(League secretary exempt)
     3.  New members will NOT be added after the first night of league play unless approved by the Sec.

B.  LEAGUE PLAY:
    1.  League play will begin on a Wednesday after Daylight Savings Time begins.  Exact date will be negotiated with Foster Golf Links.  This year, we are aiming for March 31st. League play will continue on Wednesdays until Wednesday, October 6, 2010. (28 weeks)
    2.  Play will be governed by USGA rules except as follows:
        a) Local course rules will be observed.
        b) Play summer rules; DO NOT IMPROVE YOUR LIE! (Sec will make the call if winter rules apply.)
        c) Picking up on a hole disqualifies you from eligibility for NET Score and/or Special Prize award for that round. The score for that hole will be marked with an "X". The secretary will prorate the score for handicap purposes.  This also applies to rounds shortened by darkness.
        d) The league secretary will settle disputes over rules and their clarification.
    3. Each player will contribute $2 per round for prizes (League secretary exempt).   Players with no league handicap will not be required to pay the $2 prize fee for his/her first night of league play and are ineligible for prize money for that first week.

C.  HANDICAPS:
    1. Each member will carry over the final 9 rounds maximum from 2009 to establish the beginning 2010 handicap.
    2. New members must play one round to establish a handicap.
    3. SLGL 9-hole handicaps will be computed as follows:
GROSS minus ADJUSTMENTS, minus COURSE RATING, X .96 = HANDICAP.
        Adjustments:
0 through 9 handicap . . .no more than 2 strokes over par per hole.
10 handicap and above. .no more than 3 strokes over par per hole.
        Foster Course Rating:
            Men: Front:  31  Back:  32
            Ladies:  Front:32  Back: 33
Handicaps are rounded to the nearest whole number.
    4. The current handicap of each SLGL member will be the calculated from the average of his/her best six rounds of the last nine 9-hole rounds played at Foster Golf Links.

D.  TOURNAMENT PLAY:
    1. We will try to schedule a minimum of 3 tournaments during the 2010 SLGL season.  League member  participation is encouraged and, if participation is low, the tournament may be cancelled. The tournament chairpersons will be the previous year's tournament winners.
    2. The tournament chairperson will determine the location, rules of play, and prize awards. Trophy costs will be supplemented from the league fund.
    3. Course rules will be observed during tournament play.
    4. Tournament handicaps will be calculated as follows:
League handicap X 2 X tournament course rating/league course rating = tournament handicap.
    5. Only paid-in-full league members, with 5 or more league rounds completed for the year, are eligible for tournament LOW NET prizes. Guests are welcome to participate but are ineligible for LOW NET or LOW GROSS tournament prizes. The tournament chairperson may allow guests to be eligible for Closest To, Long Drive, or Minimum Putts prizes.
    6. The tournament chairperson will establish tournament fees. Usually, the tournament fee includes green fees, golf cart rental (if necessary), and a small fee for prizes.

Tournaments are scheduled so our league may have the opportunity to play other courses and to have FUN!  Let's strive to keep tournaments in perspective and make prize money a VERY LOW PRIORITY! "Bragging rights" and a trophy should be the incentives to win!

REMEMBER, THIS LEAGUE IS BASED ON AN HONOR SYSTEM!  It is each member's responsibility to keep track of his/her own scores.  If you are not sure of how to count your score, ask an experienced golfer in your group or ask your league secretary.

Have fun; see you on Golf Wednesday.
